I had no idea this comm existed!

So who likes the Lego games? I love the Star Wars ones, especially Lego SW II, which really improved upon the first game in so many ways.

Unfortunately, I've tried and been disappointed with both Batman and Indiana Jones (though I have yet to play Indiana Jones 2). With Batman, I found the controls really fiddly and the gameplay needlessly complicated (especially the suit-switching). In addition, the game is really dark, which I realise is to add to the Batman feel, but makes it kind of difficult to distinguish things. Indiana Jones was a lot better, but his whip, oh dear God, his whip. Worst weapon ever. And picking up spears and guns and whatnot is fiddly as well. I really miss my blasters and lightsabers!

So I haven't really played much of those two (I know I should play more, and thus get used to them a little more, but I just really want more SW!), but I am really, really looking forward to Lego Harry Potter. It's coming out at the end of June, and while I have been telling myself I shouldn't buy it until I play some more of the games I got for Christmas, it is being released three days after my birthday, which makes it really tempting. I hope the gameplay is better than Batman or Indiana Jones and more on par with Star Wars.

But, but, but! When I went on Amazon just now to confirm the release date of Lego HP, I saw something even better. Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is coming out in October. Waaaaaaaaaant. OMG I want it so bad. It cannot be October soon enough.

So what about you guys? Are you excited about Harry Potter and Clone Wars? Should I tough out Batman and Indiana Jones some more because they will totally be worth it if I do? Which is your favorite Lego game so far?

[Note: I played Lego SW I&II on PS2, but Batman and Indiana Jones on the Wii, and since we don't have a PS3 or X-Box 360, any upcoming Lego games will have to be for the Wii as well.]

I loved the Batman game and beat it because of some crazy level fangirling I have for the villain characters, which to play required me going through the hero levels anyways. I got that on the PS2 though. Also, I haven't really gotten to Indiana Jones though. I tried it and I was like "accck, I can't even get past the first one". I probably will try it again this summer.

I'm looking forward to the HP game and I too will have to play it on the Wii. I'm hoping the controls won't be too difficult as I've only played on the PS2 before. As for Clone Wars, I'm not touching that franchise with a ten foot pole in any form even if the legos will eliminate the issue I have with the animation style.

Anyways, the Batman game is actually my favorite because dude, I get to play as villains and wreak havoc on Gotham city. But I liked the first Star Wars too, especially the weird ass situations you can create during free play.

You might've been better playing the Wii version because I think the Batman game was pushing the capabilities of the PS2 at points.

I had some kind of Lego game when I first had a computer. I don't even know what it was. Hmmm. I loved it, anyway.

I finished all the levels of Lego Batman because I have a completeness thing, but I often found them really irritating -- poor camera angles made it difficult to see some things. And as you say, it's really dark!

But I think they might've also sold the game poorly, because the first five levels are IMO the most poorly lit/have the most irritating camera angles! Once you can play as the villains, they're handily mostly, like, bright red and green, so they're easier to see against the backgrounds. (And once you can buy Batgirl she's the Bat to take into freeplay because her outfit's handily blue.)

Yeah, the objects are definitely hard to see sometimes. I think the villain levels are easier for that too, though, because the villains get to have better lighting, and live in zoos and greenhouses and things!

Batman got better the more I played it, but it took a while. I really disliked it the first 8-10 times I tried to play it.

I actually really like both of the Indiana Jones games, but I only play as Indy when I absolutely have to. I actually really like playing the second one as the soldier with the bazooka. I have the first one for the wii and the second for the xbox360 and I don't know if it's better programming on the second or just the different platforms, but the controls for the second one seem to be smoother.

It's been a long time since I've played the original trilogy Star Wars game as I have it for the PS2 and my PS2 is dying so I never turn it on. And I keep waffling about buying the complete version for the xbox.

But, I'm incredibly excited about the Harry Potter game and I'll probably get any new Star Wars games that come out just for more Lego fun. Because the appeal for me is more about the Legos than the specific stories.

I've been eyeing the Lego games for a while, but the problem is, games get in the way of other stuff so I'm hesitant to get into yet another game.

On the other hand...we're about to buy a second TV so we can use the Wii downstairs, so I might pick one of the SW games up and try it.
