Plants vs. Zombies

I'm not a huge fan of tower defense games. My favorite Pop-Cap game is Bejeweled, which I don't play against the clock. Stuff that's timed or involves a lot of tension is normally Not For Me.

So why did I fall so hard for PvZ?

It's all about the fact that it's kind of hard to get too tense when you're playing a game that has such a goofy premise. You have a house and all that's between you and the zombies (who, of course, want to eat your brains) is your front lawn, then back lawn, then back lawn with a pool and then your roof.

Your defense? A series of increasingly weird plants, starting with pea shooters and sun flowers (the sun flowers provide suns, which enable you to buy more plants) and going on to potato bombs, various mushrooms, spikeweed and even melonpaults (yup, catapults that hurl melons) just to name a few. Your opponents? Various kinds of zombies. My favorite is the Michael Jackson zombie who summons up a troupe of dancers attired in 80s fashion rags.

There are also a series of mini games that you unlock as you go. Tip and new levels come from your neighboor, Crazy Dave ("but you can call me Crazy Dave"). It's very cartoony in a fun way, and the music is bouncy and more than a little addictive.

The game actually gets kind of hard in the last few levels and the final boss is kind of tough, or at least he was for me. The thing that I found surprising was that it's very replayable; I've played a lot of the mini-games and actually gone through the main game a few times.

So yeah, even if you're not wild about tower defense kinds of games, you might want to give this one a spin. It's incredibly fun, and isn't that what we want our games to be?

Oh also, it's available for iPhones & iPod Touches, but I've never played it on one.

I love this game so much.

My favorite mini games are It's Raining Seeds and Dr Zomboss's Revenge. While I love the planning elements to the rest of the game, I really love the randomness of these levels and how you have to just work with whatever you're given.

I also really like Survival Endless as well as I, Zombie Endless and Vasebreaker Endless.

Plus I've played through the main game like four times.

I am in the middle of replaying the main game because I forgot to save my profile just before my computer required a reformat. It's a fun, happy game, and I really enjoy playing it for the premise.

My favourite is the pea shooter, the free "gassy" mushrooms and the potato wall. :D

I just bought the full version on Monday... and I'm addicted. How addicted? I played through the whole game, managed to figure out that with the final boss using the freezing mushroom makes him stay put so your 'pults can hit him... and I've been playing through the unlockable content.

So far my favorite mini-game (once I bought the additional plants Ironspike and Cattails from Crazy Dave) was Bobsled. Though, a close second was Be-ghouled.

I think my favorite plants are the dual-headed pea shooters, the squash, and the corn con catapult (The butter lobbing!)

I love PvZ so! I have it via Steam, which means I have a variety of achievements to go for, one of which is only getting the stupid Tree of Wisdom to 100 feet instead of 1000 like I did last time. XD I haven't played through it a second time since getting the Steam version, but I'm sure I will! It's one of those games I come back to when I want something silly. :)

I adore Plants vs Zombies. I eventually got difficulted out, but it's an awesome game even to replay levels you've already done. I think it's the humour that makes it replayable.

I love this game! My boyfriend bought it on Steam and he was hard pressed to get me off his computer from that point until I beat it. :] Tower defense games are so addicting and I looooooove me some zombies, so it was all around awesome for me. I'd really like to play it again, but when my boyfriend's harddrive took a crap I lost my save file.
